My Holiday Reads

08:30

As you may know I've recently been on holiday, and one of my favourite things to do whilst relaxing on holiday is reading. So I thought I'd share with you two books I read whilst on holiday.

The first book is Lyrebird by Cecelia Ahern, she is my absolute favourite author so I couldn't resist reading her latest novel. Its based around Laura who has been secretly living in the woods her whole life until she is accidentally discovered by a documentary crew. The story follows Laura's journey into the the modern world exploring her mimicking talent, new experiences, relationships and emotions. I found it to be a very though provoking book but a bit unbelievable at times. Its tells a lovely story but unfortunately it didn't become favourite of mine.

The other book I read was Alice Feeney's debut thriller, Sometimes I Lie. The book is based on Amber who is in a coma, her husband doesn't love her anymore and sometimes she lies. The story is told over different timelines: childhood diary entries, moments leading up to the coma and Amber's perspective whilst in the coma. Its very well written with strong characters and even though its written over three timelines the differences between the timelines are still clear. I found it to be a real page turner especially in the second half of the book with many twists and turns along the way. I definitely can't wait for more from Alice Feeney.

What books have you read lately?

  1. I recently read Sometimes I Lie and I was torn about it, I wasn't sure I liked the whole 'lie' element of it haha, does that make sense?
