Wedding Planning: Choosing a Photographer
08:00
Recently we booked our wedding photographer, as we knew the photographs would play such an important role in the remembering our wedding and they can book up fast! This post is based on our personal experience of choosing a photographer.
We came across photographers from a whole host of places; including wedding fairs, magazines, local adverts and social media. They all offered an array of vast portfolios with different styles to cater for everyone. After reading advice from magazine articles and online, we thought that presenting the photographer with a 'checklist' of photos we wanted would be the best way to guarantee we got every single shot we wanted.
However after speaking to a number of photographers we found that 'reportage' style photos throughout the day feel a lot more natural. They allow photographers to capture the true beauty of the day without being too obtrusive, tied down and restricted. We DID make sure that we could get the traditional bridal/groom party pictures of course!
In the end we actually found our photographer on social media (Facebook), we loved her style of photos, and she was very local to us as well. She had great reviews on facebook, so we checked out her website where the good reviews and testimonials continued. She also published a portfolio of four other weddings, which we loved. We did continue to look at different options just to be sure she was the right photographer for us.
We arranged to meet her at her studio to see more of her portfolio, from seeing her portfolio we knew she was the photographer for us! The photography package she offered included a full days photography coverage, 100-200 edited photos and many more non-edited photos all on a USB plus a studio engagement shoot. To make matters better she had an offer on so we got it cheaper than normal, even for 2018! We read the contract to agree everything and that was that, we had a photographer!
What would be your perfect wedding snaps?

It is, I'm sure it'll get stressful nearer the time haha! :) Thank you Laura :) x
DeleteGlad you found a great photographer! For those who haven't, I would advise that you make sure they write down everything they say they are going to provide. Our photographer told us we would have 2 photographers on our wedding, and only one showed up. He later said that they normally don't provide 2, which contradicts what he promised. Same goes for all your other vendors - write it down!

DeleteGood on you for getting your wedding photographer booked! We got ours through a wedding exhibition and they were pretty good. We were a little disappointed with some of the snaps but nothing can be done about it now.
