Essence XXXL Longlasting Matte Effect Lip Gloss in Silky Red Review

09:00

I've recently been trying out matte lip glosses, and I really love the W7 Matte Lips range. So when I seen this Essence XXXL Longlasting Matte Effect Lip Gloss in 07 Silky Red in my local Wilko I had to try it!

I like the packaging as you get to see the shade of the lipgloss, there is 4.5ml of product in a tube. When removing the lid the lipgloss has a light vanilla scent, I don't find it overpowering at all as the smell disappears once applied to the lips.

I apply just one coat and it gives me my desired red lips look, though if you want more of a statement look an extra coat could easily be applied. It has a doe foot applicator to ensure smooth application. Similar to the W7 range I would say its a more of a cream texture than a gloss.

It doesn't turn my lips completely matte, I would say its more of a semi-matte finish. My lips still feel moisturised when wearing this, it doesn't set into any lines or dry them out. It can last for around 4-5 hours before needing to be touched up. Unfortunately it does transfer when drinking/eating.

Overall I really love the shade of this lip gloss and it is really good value so I would recommend it! I do think the W7 range is superior in staying power though.

  4. I've not heard of Essence before but the pigmentation is great! It's a shame it transfers but I'm feel like a lot of lip products do in general!

  9. I love the shade of this lip gloss but I'm not big on matte finishes as I already have quite dry lips and they tend to dry them out even more. If this one is slightly moisturising though it may be worth giving it a try :) x
